PATZINGO ECOTOURISM CENTER AND ARTIST RESIDENCY | CENTRO ECOTURISTICO PATZINGO Y RESIDENCIA DE ARTISTAS

 

The Patzingo Ecotourism Center was created in 1990 by the indigenous P’urépecha community of San Juan Nuevo in the state of Michoacán, Mexico, to offer a sustainable alternative to ecotourism for national and foreign tourists.

 

With individual cabins suitable for 1 up to several guests, a restaurant serving a set menu of locally-sourced P’urépecha agricultural products, a convention center for up to 85 participants in conferences around indigenous issues, renewable energy, sustainable forestry, climate change, and activities such as hiking, camping, horseback riding, visits to local forestry projects, ceramics, weaving, woodworking, artisanal candy- and liqueur-making, and visiting the Paricutín volcano and the cabin of the famous Mexican artist Dr. Atl (Gerardo Murillo).
